"But Really Only Watch-Menders"

" . . . I pray thee have me excused."
Luke 14:18c

A soldier who went to the war took with him some of the small instruments of his craft--he was a watch-maker and repairer--thinking to make some extra shillings now and then while in the camp.  He did so.  He found plenty of watches to mend, and almost forgot that he was a soldier.  One day, when ordered off on some duty, he expclaimed, "Why, how can I go? I've got ten watches to mend!"
Some Chrsiitans are so absorbed in self-seeking that they are ready to say to the Master's call, "I pray thee have me excused!"  They are nominally soldiers of Christ, but really only watch-menders.

Life Is Like An Iceberg!

Life Is Like An Iceberg!

There is so much more to it than what you can see with your physical eyes!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Joining President Lincoln in this invitation:

"I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent who dwelleth in the Heavens".-

I Am Amazed!

Just when you think the snow
dusted trees couldn't possibly be anymore beautiful . . .

God sends a Cardinal to rest on one.

"Dear Lord, may I never tire of being amazed by You.
And may I never ignore Your Hand as You move and work
around and through me."

With Thanks, lisa

I'm Not Content to Just Dangle My Toes?

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do,
do it with thy might;
for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge,
nor wisdom, in the grave,
whither thou goest.
Eccl 9:10

Was reading D. L. Moody this week.  He never fails to cut to the truth! And today's truth was disturbing, but not without hope!

My thoughts are filled with the lost and dying-ways to reach them-- and my prayers filled with cries for labourers. For some reason, while the task is great, it seems the workers are late.  I think about it a lot. It seems quite a few of us today do a lot of trying to find ourselves--it never went out of fashion after the '60's! Too bad! Trying out this and that and even sometimes just being content to remain spectators or visitors in the work of the Great Commission, satisfied to tell and read about the work God is doing or has done through others is all too common.  I was pierced to read Mr. Moody commenting on Ecclesiastes 9:10, but was encouraged and admonished. He said,

 Better say,
"This one thing I do,"
than to say,
"These fifty things I dabble in."

Don't be content to just dangle your toes!
Why not dive in?

This Is What Was Happening Saturday In Our City As We Prepared To Evacuate

All of these pics were taken on Saturday.

1. Just before dawn a sudden eruption.
2. Leaving the city, the roads were lined with hawkers selling masks as ash fell.
3. Yogyakarta blanketed in volcanic ash.
4. Ash and toxic gases shoot into the air and on another nearby village.
5. Taken from the latest village to suffer damage.

Many of our students are from the affected areas.
Please pray that we can be of help and of good testimony!

And Erupts...
